The ideas flow

I've been noting down ideas for my ebook all week, some of them have been swirling around in my head for ages and some are brand new! All are within my broad areas of knowledge. I counted and I have about 10 possible ideas, they are all very broadly in the marketing, networking, social media and digital publishing arena. I love books and research so that's coming into it somewhere too!!

Well, reading that it looks like I might be going to write more than one book then!!! Yes, I do hope so :-)

How to choose?

Some of the questions I've been asking myself:

  • I have lots of ideas but which one will I actually go with?
  • Do I combine some?
  • Do I write one long book or several shorter ones, or a mixture?
  • Which will sell?
  • What really speaks to me?
  • Is there a gap in the market?
  • Do I know enough about the topic to write a good book?
  • Is there already a book out there that does the job?
So my next step is to do my research and find out the answer to some of those questions. The very first one I must consider though is:

Do I want to write the book?

If I can't answer YES the that idea bites the dust!

Next for me

I need to spend a little time on each idea to see which might work for me and will potentially have a market. That means asking myself lots of questions and doing some market research.

The research aspect of the ideas at this initial stage is to take me beyond what I already know!

All of the ideas I have fit with my experience and knowledge base so that is not an issue - I discounted ones which didn't at the outset!
